The Mapleton House, recipient of the 2025 AIA National Award for Residential Architecture and the Robin Dods Award for Residential Architecture, features standing seam and flat lock VMZinc cladding. The faceted roof and wall forms respond to the ridgeline of the Blackall Range, framing views toward Mt Ninderry and Mt Coolum while allowing the material to weather naturally over time.

Working alongside AM Build and Atelier Chen Hung, Ionclad delivered the intricate VMZinc roofing and cladding detailing central to the home’s architectural expression. The standing seam and flat lock systems reinforce the monolithic form of the building, creating a refined material palette shaped by craftsmanship, landscape and longevity.

The result is an award-winning home where contemporary architecture and lasting materials are seamlessly integrated.
